Crop images without uploading them
Choose a format, adjust the crop and download an exact-size image — your file stays on this device.
A crop that fits where you need it
Use Free or Original for custom framing, or start with 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 and 16:9. Drag the image, zoom for a tighter composition, rotate when needed and export a fresh file in JPG, PNG or WebP.
Technical details
The browser redraws the decoded image into a new canvas. The crop uses a cover transform, so the selected frame is always filled without stretching. Output is limited to 8,192 pixels per edge to reduce memory failures on typical devices.
Questions about cropping images
Are images uploaded when I crop them?
No. FileSlimmer decodes, previews, crops and encodes the image inside your browser. The file is not sent to a FileSlimmer processing server. Your browser may still request the static application files needed to load the page before you begin editing.
What is the difference between cropping and resizing?
Cropping changes the framing by removing pixels outside the selected area. Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of the resulting image. This editor combines both steps: you choose the visible crop first, then export it at the exact width and height you need.
Does exporting remove image metadata?
Yes. The editor draws the selected pixels into a new browser canvas and creates a new JPG, PNG or WebP file from that surface. EXIF, GPS and most other source metadata are not copied into the exported file, while the visible image pixels remain.
